Yukon Crafts Society
Spruce Bog Sale Policy

  1. Spruce Bog craft sales are directed toward the needs of the home based craftsperson, whose sales opportunities are limited in comparison to the sales opportunities available to retailers in a business district.

The Yukon Crafts Society provides the opportunity for home based craftspeople to explore the marketability of their products and offers support, education and limited public exposure.

The home based craftsperson does not always have the advantage of walk-through traffic, personal contact, economical advertising, year-round visibility, or in the case of consignment, display control and promotion.
  2. a) If a Craft Society member chooses to open a retail business in a retail district, they are no longer eligible to take part in Spruce Bog.

    b) Selling your products on consignment is allowed, as long as you don’t own or rent a retail space.
  3. ITEMS FOR SALE
    a) Each item must be individually handmade, solely by the member.
    b) Prints of the artist’s original photographs, paintings, drawings or sketches are permitted. Authors may sell copies of their book as long as they have created the written content.
    c) Items must not have been taken out of a retail store specifically for selling in an upcoming Spruce Bog sale.
    d) If you reproduce a consignment item to sell at a Spruce Bog sale, we encourage you to price consistently, and thereby deal fairly with your consignor.
    e) Prices should be clearly marked on all items, or a price sign to cover small items. YCS tags are available for a nominal fee.
    f) The vendor must be familiar with and comply with the Canadian laws of content and labelling as they apply to their product. e.g.) 1. Labelling laws require that fibre content and care instructions be included with items which will require laundering. 2. Any product for human or animal consumption must have an ingredient list attached. 3. Products used on your skin must have an ingredient list attached. 4. Every item must have the contact information of the maker attached to it.

In the event of a participant withdrawing, partial refund is available, based on the amount of notice given. No refunds will be issued during the 14 days prior to a sale. The refund will not include the membership fee unless the member specifically requests it or the Executive asks the member to leave.
  6. DISPLAY CARDS AND I.D. PINS
The first booth name sign and I.D pin are complimentary for to new members. Replacement signs and pins will be charged on your registration form.
  7. SET-UP AND DISPLAY
Each vendor is responsible for setting up his/her own display area and tearing down at the end of the day. Please ensure you remove all garbage and unwanted boxes from your area. There are seldom enough garbage disposal bins at a venue to accommodate us, so please take it with you and deal with it at home
